What Are We Doing Here?

You might have stumbled on this blog by accident, or you might have come here from somewhere else. But either way, let me introduce myself and tell you we are here talking hockey.

My name is Sheena, and I am a major hockey fan, especially of the Minnesota Wild. This blog isn’t going to be your typical hockey talk. I won’t discuss a lot of stats because honestly, I don’t totally understand them myself.

What I will write about is more the love for the game from the youth level up to the pros, with random facts and trivia thrown in.

What Are My Creds?

With the Olympics just winding up (side note-did you see that Gold Medal goal?! More to come about that in another post…) and Heated Rivalry being a huge hit at the moment, hockey is gaining a larger following than it has probably ever had.

For those of you who are longtime fans, I promise you I’m not one of these new fans that has come over from the smut world (while I will admit that I do love a good smut book and I did watch the series). For those who are new to hockey, I can also make you a promise that I won’t be speaking in hockey and stats in a way that makes zero sense to you. I want to share my love for the game from the heart, but in a fun way. New fans will find my posts helpful in understanding the game. I will save you the time of having to google what offsides and icing are like I had to do years ago (true story).

I came to the hockey world about ten years ago when my then second grader came home from school and begged me to let him play hockey. I knew nothing about it except that everyone said it was expensive and that most young players had been skating since they could walk. I had zero interest in sports, and I tried to talk him out of it. But I lost the battle, and I am so glad I did. Hockey has turned into a healthy obsession for our whole family. While my son’s hockey days ended from injury his sophmore year, his little sister has followed in his footsteps and may be even more obsessed with the game than he is.

Why Should You Stick Around?

If you’re heavy into stats and looking for info for your fantasy leagues, I’m not going to be the one you want to follow. But if you’re looking to learn more about hockey in general and and have some fun while doing it, stick around! We’re about ready to get wild about hockey!
